FINGER LAKES CLIMATE AND WEATHER

Visitors to the Finger Lakes Region can experience four distinct seasons. Warm summers averaging between 75 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit transition into crisp, cool fall air and breathtaking foliage. Winter snowfall typically begins in November and varies greatly throughout the region. 

Lake effect snow is moderate in the Ithaca region, averaging 67.3” per year, and heavier in the Rochester, and Syracuse areas, which average between 92.3 inches and 115.6 inches. Resorts around the Finger Lakes provide fantastic winter recreation including skiing and snowboarding that lasts until the first hints of spring in the month of March.
