Persons, Places, and Things Around the Finger Lakes

An introduction to the Finger Lakes Region for those who are not familiar with it and a collective reference for those who already know the area. This book provides an overview of the five minor lakes: Conesus, Hemlock, Canadice, and Honeoye, in the West, and Otisco in the East. It also provides an overview of Rochester, the western gateway to the region; Syracuse, the eastern gateway; and Corning and Elmira, the southern gateways. In addition, it provides information on the four compass points surrounding the six major lakes: west of the lakes including hunt country and Letchworth State Park, north of the lakes with the Erie Canal and Lake Ontario, east of the lakes with the beautiful country surrounding Cortland and Homer, and south of the lakes with its soaring sites and the scenic Chemung and Susquehanna River valleys.
