The Sonnenberg Gardens is a 50 acre New York State Historic Park containing nine themed gardens, a 19th century Victorian-style mansion and an expansive greenhouse. Sonnenberg is the former summer home and creation of New York governor, Mary Clark Thompson and Frederick Ferris. Within the mansion, unique furniture and decor are displayed in rooms open to the public. Outside, take a guided tour or explore the lush grounds on your own while taking in the vibrant colors and intricate architecture. See what’s blooming in the garden when you visit according to their perennial blooming schedule.

There are several picnic tables throughout the park, sit on the Veranda and enjoy the scenery of the Italian Garden or grab a piece of grass on the South Lawn and bring along a picnic with your favorite snacks and beverages.Sonnenberg is a pack-in, pack-out park, so please clean up your picnic area and take your trash with you.

 

Sonnenberg is a member of theCanandaigua Lake Wine Trail and ROC/FLX Craft Beverage Trail. Through the support of some local wineries, 6 private labeled wines are offered at The Finger Lakes Wine Center. The Sonneberg gift shop and The Finger Lakes Wine Center are both located in the historic Bay House near the conservatory which is accessible from the main parking lot and garden admission is not required. If you’re looking for a picture-perfect place to have your wedding, Sonnenberg has a range of options and vendors for the big day. During warm weather months, Sonnenberg offers events open to the public and to its members, such as Arts At The Gardens, a highly acclaimed exhibition of the finest artists.
