From Wine to Books
Giving a gift is never an easy task, here is a
quick guide to different options to make sure you give the perfect
gift.
Wine & Gift Baskets
Wine and
wine accessories make a great gift for any wine drinker.
Before you select your
wine gifts,
it is helpful to know if the wine drinker is someone who really
knows their wine, or if they just enjoy drinking a nice glass. If
they are a knowledgeable wine drinker you’ll need to put a little
more thought into the gift – don’t just buy a common brand for your
local store. It doesn’t need to be expensive wine, but you ask
someone at your local store about a unique
varietal or
something that a knowledgeable wine drinker would enjoy. Another
great idea is to give local wine for the recipient to try.
Finger lakes wines
make perfect gifts because their quality is high but most people
have not tried them.
If you are sending wine as a
business gift,
wine baskets
are always a favorite since they include food, cheeses, chocolate
and additional gourmet finds in addition to the wine. Or some may
prefer to give
wine
clubs which allow them to choose different combinations of wines
delivered over the course of many months.
Books
Consider giving a unique or local
interest book as a gift. There are a wide variety of
books
related to the finger lakes, from novels set in the area to photo
books to great books about wineries and things to do in the finger
lakes region.
Gift Certificates and Gift
Cards
Shopping for someone really
tough, or really picky? Consider giving a gift card or
gift certificate
to them – you can choose a store that you know they already like.
While some feel gift cards and certificates aren’t as personal of a
gift, they have become extremely popular in recent years and are
usually well received.
Restaurants
A meal at a nice restaurant
is always a great and memorable gift. Call the restaurant ahead of
time and buy a certificate that will cover the entire meal – drinks,
meal and desert.
Tickets
Tickets to a
concert, a
sporting event or a play are a great gift. In the
Finger Lakes area
there are a number of major venues for large concerts, professional
sports as well as a number of smaller playhouses where you can see a
quality production.
