Keuka Lake is where the Finger Lakes wine industry began, and where the largest wineries in the region were housed, including one that became the sixth largest domestic winery, the Taylor Wine Company. Today, Keuka is host to 16 wineries that includes a few of the oldest small wineries as well as the most acclaimed in the region: Heron Hill Vineyards, McGregor Winery, and Dr, Frank’s Vinifera Wine Cellars; the latter started a wine revolution in the 1960s when it produced the grapes for the first successfully commercial Riesling and Chardonnay wines of New York State, under the Gold Seal label. Along with the excellent wines produced at Keuka, the lake’s unique cursive “y” shape and its dynamically drastic steep slopes make it arguably the most scenic lake around which to tour wineries, which you can do by traveling the Keuka Wine Trail.

Perched high on a hill above Keuka Lake, McGregor Vineyard has offered quality, estate-bottled wines for over 30 years. With varietals ranging from Pinot Noir to Riesling and rarities like Serkesiya and Saperavi (the “Black Russian Red”), it’s easy to see how the more than 1,000 members of our wine club understand quality when they taste it!
