NATIONAL SOARING MUSEUM

The National Soaring Museum in Elmira, NY is the only museum in the United States that explores the history of motorless flight. Elmira is known as “the soaring capital of the world,” and rightly so; the area was host to numerous motorless flight competitions between 1930 and 1946. The Museum itself is filled with planes and models from past and present. Kids can stay for an overnight at the museum and build a full-scale replica of 1902 Wright Gilder wing rib, or learn about flight simulation. Looking to try soaring first-hand? You can buy sailplane ride gift certificates at the Windrider Gift Shop and take flight with the Harris Hill Soaring Corporation!
