Fillmore Glen State Park – Moravia, NY Hiking and Waterfalls

Home to five waterfalls hidden in a lush woodland, hikers at Fillmore Glen State Park in Moravia, NY, have much to enjoy. The park spans an area of 938 acres and rises 349 feet in elevation from the bottom of the gorge up to the dam. The inlet of Owasco Lake provides fishing and swimming opportunities for fair-weather visitors, and 60 campsites are available to make for longer stays! The park is even open year-round and offers hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling (on unplowed roads) during the winter.

Named after U.S. President Millard Fillmore, Fillmore Glen State Park is located about five miles from the former president’s birthplace and features a replica of Fillmore’s boyhood log cabin. The grounds, which attract over 85,000 visitors per year, also include a full service cottage on the shore of Cayuga Lake, which contains a fully furnished bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and sitting area with a dock and picnic area outside. There are trails for all levels of difficulty, yet we would definitely recommend hiking the gorge trail with the kids!

You can find the park on Route 38 adjacent to the Village of Moravia. To contact the park, call (315) 497-0130 or visit https://parks.ny.gov/parks/157.
