Pleasant Valley Wine Company in Hammondsport, NY is the oldest winery in the Finger Lakes region. Honored with many prestigious awards, the wines and champagnes produced at Pleasant Valley can be found at hotels and restaurants across the United States. Although there have been many changes since its birth in 1860, the winery still houses eight preserved stone buildings. These buildings have an old European charm and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Great Western Winery Visitor Center serves as an educational hub where visitors can learn the history of wine making throughout the Finger Lakes. The cooper’s shop is another fun place which displays wine casks, barrels and cooper’s tools. Tours of the winery are given daily from Memorial Day until Thanksgiving.
